Your Questions, Answered
A sateen sheet is cotton woven so that more of the yarn sits on the surface of the cloth. That construction gives sateen its smooth feel and soft sheen, and makes it drape more heavily than a plain weave sheet.
Sateen and percale are both cotton, woven differently. Percale uses a one over, one under plain weave, giving a crisp, matte, lightweight sheet. Sateen floats yarn across the surface, giving a smoother, warmer sheet with a soft sheen and heavier drape.
Long-staple cotton is cotton with longer than average individual fibres. Longer fibres leave fewer loose ends on the yarn, so the cloth feels smoother, resists pilling, and keeps its surface through repeated washing instead of roughening.
Sateen suits hotels that want a premium feel without adding a pressing step, because it looks polished straight from the dryer. Properties that press their linen and want a crisp, matte bed are better served by percale.
Our cotton sateen sets have four pieces: one flat sheet, one fitted sheet and two pillowcases. Twin sets include two pillowcases as well, rather than the single case many suppliers ship at that size.
Twin, queen and king, in white, light grey and navy. Fitted sheets are cut with a 15 inch pocket across all three sizes. Custom sizes and custom colours are available to order.
